Change is underway. The world is craving, yearning, and desperate for wellness.
The global pandemic of COVID-19 continues its stranglehold on the U.S. and around the world. Over the past eight months or so, we've been consumed with reports of the rampant infections, heart-breaking deaths in our communities, rancor, and discord over doing basic things to stem the spread of the virus, like wearing masks, social distancing, and washing hands.

Dr. Sherri James, owner of BMI Wellness Concepts, faces this everyday as a medical doctor, and the COVID-19 pandemic has touched her personally. Two of her family members died from the virus, and two others have been diagnosed with it - fortunately, her son survived it.
At the same time, another global pandemic stifling the world for hundreds of years finally seems to be jarring people's attention - the global pandemic of social and racial injustice.

In her daily professional life, Dr. James cares for migrant workers, the uninsured, the working poor, minorities, people in the LGBTQ communities, and other under-represented populations. These are patients whose health and well-being are often cast aside, overlooked, and at worst they are outwardly blocked from access to good healthcare options.
As a reminder each day, she lives by the words of poet Max Ehrmann,
The world has never needed a pathway to Wellness more than it does right now.
In the soon-to-be-released wellness workbook, Finding Wellness in a Pandemic and Beyond, Dr.Sherri James offers hope and sheds a light on what the eight tenets of wellness are, why they are important, and how to achieve them. The BMI Wellness Concepts Wellness Quotient survey included in the book, gives a quick, yet thorough real-time assessment of a person’s wellness journey.
As a physician and wellness advocate, Dr. James strives to educate patients according to a “wellness model” rather than the traditional “sick model” of healthcare as we know it today in the United States. By so doing, she hopes to eliminate health disparities and to make our communities both healthy and wealthy - because your health is your greatest wealth. Her motto is: Get Well, Be Well, Stay Well.
